1. Everyone has mental health.
2. Mental health disorder can happen to anyone and are not a sign of weakness or fault.
3. In Children: Around 20 % of world’s children and adolescent are suffering from mental health disorder and problems.
4. Disability: Mental and substance use disorders are leading cause of disability worldwide.
5. Suicide: It’s a second leading cause of death in 15-29-year age group. Every year, about 800000 people commit suicide. India has highest suicide rate in Asia and so labelled as a “Suicide Capital of Asia”.
6. War and Disaster: Rate of mental health disorder doubles in such situations.
7. A risk factor of other illness: Mental disorders are considered as a risk factor for other illness like HIV, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and vice versa.
8. Obstacles in getting help: Stigma and discrimination towards patients and family member of sufferer prevent them to get mental health care.
9. Human Right Violation: Includes physical restraint, seclusion and denial of basic needs and privacy are routinely reported in all country.
10. Lack of mental health care professionals: Especially in middle and low-income country. India has 0.03 psychiatrist per 100000 people.
