The students of ISG-i in Muscat, Oman—Adwaith Nair, Asmi Raniga, Bhavini Khanduja, and Muhammed Abrar—organized a charity basketball match to promote mental health awareness. This initiative was part of their IGCSE Global Perspectives Board examination 2024-25 component 3 project, aimed at combating the stigmas and taboos surrounding mental health in society. They successfully raised 45,000 INR from the event, which they generously donated to Mindroot to further mental health awareness and support in rural areas.
Organizing the event presented numerous challenges. They had to secure sponsorships, advertise the match, and manage logistics, among many other tasks. Despite these difficulties, They dedicated countless hours to planning and dividing the work among ourselves, ensuring the event’s success.
This accomplishment was made possible through the unwavering support of their parents, the guidance and encouragement of their teacher, and the enthusiastic participation of their players, viewers, and sponsors.
We are proud of their efforts and grateful for the community’s support. This experience has not only helped raise awareness about mental health but also taught them valuable lessons in teamwork, organization, and perseverance. Together, they gave all their efforts to make a positive impact on society.
