Trek for Mental Health Awareness

Oct 12, 2021 | Latest Updates

There are hundreds of ways through which people take care of their mental health. Apart from inculcating all those aspects in everyday life, I realised that trekking is one of the most efficient and rejuvenating activities in which one can involve. Mindroot that is why organises treks several times a year. We encourage people from different areas to come and witness it themselves.

This time we organised a trek with Team Umeed & Bluemonkeys Club for Galta Trek in Jaipur. Many participated actively apart from them, and we ended up having an amazing time during this excursion. I would like to highlight a few things from this journey with all of you in this post.

Why Does Trekking Matter?

Every Time I climb and trek towards a destination, I forget everything apart from that activity in hand. Isn’t that one of the most difficult things to achieve in life? How many times does it happen when we allow ourselves to flow in the present moment?

I can’t deny that it is indeed an exhausting process. Sometimes I felt that maybe staying at home in A.C. was better. But then I look around myself and feel like that would have been yet another day in my life that I won’t remember. I mean, we have all become lazy, and everything is literally served to us on our platter. Do we care enough to break that pattern every once in a while?

When I look around during a trek and sit on some boulder nearby, I see how far I have come. I get a chance to truly appreciate the beauty of nature. How many times do we get an opportunity like that in our daily life?

Also, our conversations during the trek stayed with me for longer because of how present I was and how much I actually listened and witnessed the people behaving in their true sense. One of the best ways to bond with people is to do activities like these with them. You can truly see them as they are.

And lastly, is there any better exercise than this?

Our Family Hike

One of our primary goals is to make people aware of the importance of Mental Health. Since World Mental Health Day was coming, we decided to record our messages and make everyone care about it a bit more.

Also, we played quizzes this time. One of the most efficient ways to make people more aware of its impact is to keep it fun. That was our motto from the beginning, and it went out perfectly. Everyone engaged and tried their best to win the prize. No matter who won or lost, by the end of the quiz, everyone went home with a bit more knowledge about mental health. I would like to congratulate Praveen Chippa (MBBS Student, SMS Medical College) for winning the quiz for World Mental Health Day 2021.

Not only did this trip make our day worth it, but we also ended up educating each other.

I encourage everyone to find out time for activities like these. Mental health isn’t supposed to be a burden that needs extra caution, but it is largely about doing things you love and being social. Naturally, we humans tend to seek dependency, and because of this digital age, we crave some time for ourselves and nature. So this World Mental Health Day, take an oath to seek out activities such as these and I assure you, life would become a lot less complicated.

This World Mental Health Day, if you have a story or a message that you want to share, then send them to us. Mindroot would be happy to post them and spread the messages. Don’t forget to add the following hashtags.

#mentalhealthawareness #mindrootfoundation

Until then, take care.
