Addiction (Ganjha & Doda Post) a worrying scenario in India

Apr 6, 2019 | Latest Updates

Today we have seen the two patients, one is a student who is taking Ganja and come with behavioural problems and another one is Farmer from Ajmer district who is actively taking Doda Post and want to leave that.
The student told me that one of his friends give Ganjha party on his birthday and he has smoked. From next day he starts feeling anxiety and some strange experiences which led him to see you. He also reports that use Ganjha in the hostel is common and many students have problems with that.
The farmer told me that he starts using Doda as one of his friends said that after using it your stamina to do work would increase significantly after using it. He reports that he feels the same and start using it, but now he became dependent on it. Now he can’t leave without it even he doesn’t need to do work, and if not use it he had body ache, diarrhoea, yawning and abdominal cramp. His daily requirement is also increasing, and he had to spend a lot of money and time in procuring the Doda as this has been banned in Rajasthan.
Many people in our society are suffering from substance use disorders and need help, but they don’t know how and from where they will get help. We must make them aware that medical help is available and they don’t need to fear about stigmatisation.
